Professor Ian Gow OBE, Principal of SBC, and Dr Terry Jeves (NCUK) were asked to conduct a feasibility study to advise the British government and the Vietnamese government on the Viet Nam - UK International Standard World Class University project.
As part of the "Viet Nam - UK 2011 Action Plan", this university will also be responsible for contributing to the upgrading to international standard of teaching and research at the Da Nang University which is the host university for this new development.
Given their expertise in Sino-foreign joint venture institutions delivering British degree education in China they were able to share their specialist knowledge and experience of setting up and running successful Sino-Foreign Higher Education Joint Ventures.
Approved by a Joint Statement co-signed by the UK Secretary of State Hague and Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan during the latter's visit to the UK in May 2010, this project is a key element in Viet Nam's strategy for achieving world class university development.
