Studying sharing from Electrical and Electronic Engineering students

After 12 days of online teaching, we asked some students “how is your study going”? Some Electrical and Electronic Engineering students at different levels of study shared their experiences.

Year 4—SHI Zhijian

As a year 4 student, SHI Zhijian was worried about further study or work. During this time, a conditional offer from Imperial College London inspired him. “I learned a lot of career knowledge before, like PCB design, C++, etc. After receiving this conditional offer, the study content has been transferred to machine study and computer vision. These are systematic curriculums which will be very useful.”

When staying at home, he used the knowledge on practice, “I designed a project making a glow clock which referred to an introduction from a website. When finishing components and parts, and design, I found that overcoming the difficulty in the process is the best study approach!”

Year 3—QIU Yilin

QIU Yilin is a student who won a first prize in the national mathematics competition.  He thinks that mathematics is a way to understand the world.

QIU Yilin shared a book list and classified them. The first is calculus,Thomas Calculus,Advanced Mathematical Analysis,Mathematical Analysisedited by CHEN Jixiu from Fudan University; the second is linear algebra, Introduction to Linear Algebra》,《Mathematical Analysisedited by QIU Weisheng; Probability theory is the third part, Probability theory and Mathematical Statistics》,《Probability and Computation; The last one is mathematical modelling, Algorithm and Application of Mathematical ModellingNumerical Analysis.

QIU Yilin reminds that each theory should be demonstrated on paper, allowing better application.

Year 2—PENG Yiyang and LIU Yuting

PENG Yiyang uses e-books more at home, and he recommends <Microelectronics ——Circuit Analysis and Design> by Donald Neamen. This book illustrates numerous microelectronic theories, and is suitable for students studying basic electronics. PENG Yiyang said that he will use this book and finish the exercises on it for further study if he cannot fully understand the class.

Another student, LIU Yuting believes that university students should be independent, so that writing tidy notes is a good way to check their study progress. “I prefer a simple notes so that I can summarise after class. The notes on the notebook can be in picture form, etc. to make the knowledge relevant.” Apart from the notes, she also shared a series of books to classmates who are on the same programme.

Year1—YU Jin

“I’ m used to making notes with mind mapping. Through this, I can see a branch under a general topic, which can improve familiarity on a new subject.”

Additionally, YU Jin focuses more on her English studies. She usually uses some apps for convenience, like TED on Netease public course, MOMO vocabulary, etc. And she also recommends a book for vocabulary memory called <Word Power Made Easy>it divides the vocabulary into different topic; as well as <Vocabulary Builder>.
